Everything you need to know about Microneedling

Fun fact: one microneedling with PRP treatment a year yields the same amount of collagen we lose in a year! That means one treatment stops the clock, and multiple treatments rewind it. How does it work? We create micro-injuries in the skin using a special vibrating pen that has 36 hair-thin needles. This then signals your body to stimulate and rejuvenate collagen and elastin. Keep reading for all the science behind this collagen-boosting treatment!

Microneedling’s many benefits:

Microneedling with PRP is an effective solution for many skin concerns, including:

  • Acne scars

  • Skin firmness and elasticity

  • Sun damage

  • Hair loss and thinning hair

  • Hyperpigmentation, including melasma and dark spots

  • Enlarged pores

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

What is PRP?

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a product of our own blood and is made up of red and white blood cells, plasma, and platelets. We begin each microneedling treatment by drawing blood from your arm (similar to a routine blood test) while you’re numbing and placing it in our centrifuge. These machines spin the blood around quickly, separating the blood into three main components: red blood cells, platelet-poor plasma, and platelet-rich plasma. The platelet-rich plasma, which contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors, is extracted for use in the treatment! By utilizing this during your microneedling session, you will find not only will it lessen your downtime but you will see improved results!

Is there downtime?

Microneedling with PRP typically involves minimal downtime. Immediately following your procedure, you may experience some redness, mild swelling, and sensitivity. Generally, by the next day, most patients report only slightly tight skin and minimal residual redness!

As your skin continues to heal, you may notice some mild flaking, dryness, swelling, and scaling over the next 48 hours. Wait to apply makeup for at least 48 hours but within a week you’ll be able to return to your normal skincare routine!

How often should I do microneedling?

This can be different for everyone depending on their goals, age, skin concerns, etc. If you are looking to maintain the youthfulness to your skin but have minimal skin concerns, we recommend doing microneedling twice per year to help stimulate collagen and elastin. If you have any concerns with the tone or texture of your skin, you often need 3-4 sessions about a month apart in order to correct these concerns!

What’s the cost?

We charge $400 per session without PRP or $650 per session with PRP. We also offer a package discount for those looking to do a series!
